POSTED: 1:50 am EST November 27, 2009

(Sports Network) - Dwight Howard recorded 22 points, 17 rebounds and four blocked shots, as Orlando produced a sound 93-76 win over division- rival Atlanta at Philips Arena.

Vince Carter had 21 points and nine rebounds while Anthony Johnson provided a late spark with 12 of his 17 points coming in the fourth quarter to help the Magic leapfrog the Hawks for first place in the Southeast Division.

Rashard Lewis checked in with 14 points for Orlando, which had a five-game win streak snapped on Wednesday as Michael Beasley's last-second dunk sent Miami to a thrilling 99-98 victory.

Joe Johnson paced the Hawks with 22 points and seven boards while Josh Smith posted 13 points and as many rebounds in Atlanta's second loss in a row.

The Hawks were coming off their first loss in two weeks as New Orleans ended the club's seven-game win streak on Saturday. Atlanta had another seven-game streak come to an end Thursday as it was bidding for an eighth straight win at home to start the season.

The Magic started the fourth quarter with a quick 9-2 run to stretch a two- point lead to nine at 76-67. Anthony Johnson scored the final five and broke up a a pair of Smith makes with a three-pointer.

Atlanta proceeded to go three-plus minutes without a point and Anthony Johnson's layup with 2:51 to play had Orlando in front 85-73 and sparked a game-ending 10-3 stretch.

"The first half, we got to the basket and got easy buckets. The second half we just didn't attack. Defensively, we just didn't follow our assignments in the second half. We just fell off in the second half. They went on a run and we never bounced back," said Joe Johnson.

The Hawks held a slight 25-23 edge after 12 minutes of play and the game remained tight in the second quarter. Mike Bibby knocked down consecutive jumpers, the second coming from beyond the arc to pull Atlanta in front 40-36 with a little less than 5 1/2 minutes until halftime.

Joe Johnson then hit from downtown and Al Horford slammed for two to complete a 10-0 run for a nine-point difference.

Lewis stopped the bleeding with a triple but the Hawks' surge morphed into a 16-3 run to end the frame up 51-39.

"We were two different teams. The first half, especially our starting lineup, looked like they didn't even want to play. I thought our bench did a good job in the first half and got us the lead," said Magic coach Stan Van Gundy referring to the difference in his team's play in the first half. "We put those guys (the starters) back in the game and they did six minutes of sleepwalking to be down 12 at halftime"

Orlando battled back in the third, though, and ripped off eight straight points capped by a Mickael Pietrus three-pointer to get within one at 60-59 with four minutes to go.

A short Lewis make tied the game moments later and Carter completed a three- point play with 2:09 on the clock for a 64-63 lead. J.J. Redick followed Carter with a jump shot and added a free throw as Orlando took a slim 67-65 edge into the final quarter.

Game Notes:

Orlando has won five of its past six games with the Hawks, including four straight in Atlanta...A triumph would have given the Hawks franchise their best home start since beginning 9-0 in the 1993-94 season...Bibby and Jamal Crawford had 10 points each for Atlanta...Redick scored nine for Orlando.
