Honda Salty™ Cares/MORE TV


Was there a shortage of books and supplies at your school and Mr. Jones stepped in to raise money to replace them? Or was there a problem with kids hanging out on the weekends with nothing to do and Mrs. Turner created a program to help? These are ordinary people who saw a need and did something about it. Why? Because they care!! And MORE-TV32 cares too!

Salty™ Cares is an involvement program about people who care enough to make a difference in their community. We will showcase them by honoring one person or group every month with the Salty™ Cares Award.

There will be a total of 10 recipients - 1 per month. All Award recipients are immediately entered into a drawing where website viewers can vote for 1 recipient to win a Cruise for 2 during 2005.


Recent Salty Cares™ Recipients:

Alice Kohl

Alice Kohl is a very caring woman who loves children. As a single mom for 17 years, she wanted to find a way to give back to children because of the love she has for her kids.

For the past 3 years, she has held a fundraising event at her hair salon to raise money to benefit free breakfast and lunch programs at daycare and community centers. She is also involved with the Shop Till You Drop program that benefits the Pediatric Cancer Foundation. But the program that is very near and dear to her heart is the Locks of Love program. This program is used to make vacuum fitted wigs for children with alopecia. All year long, anyone can go into her salon and she will cut their hair for free as long as it is donated to the Locks of Love organization.

Over the years, Alice has donated several thousand dollars to these local charities and countless hours of her time. She is a true gift and deserving of such an award.

Contest Rules
