GH Institute Tests: Eye Makeup Removers

Wiping off caked-on mascara and liner doesn't have to be a time-consuming chore. The Good Housekeeping Institute's Chemistry Department recently put six brands of eye makeup removers to the test on panelists. The verdict: Two brands let you quickly swipe and say goodnight.

Easy on the eyes: Kiehl's Supremely Gentle Eye Makeup Remover saves you time. Cleaning with little effort, it didn't irritate panelists' eyes or leave a greasy, tacky residue behind. $15.50; at Kiehl's stores or www.kiehls.com.

Easy on the wallet: Nivea's Eye Makeup Remover for Waterproof & Long Lasting Makeup came in a close second, and "it doesn't smudge," said one tester, noting the cool, refreshing scent. $5.25; at mass merchandisers or www.nivea.com.
