Celebrity Chatter: Find Out Who Should Play Bride

Who Is Your Favorite To Play The Part?

POSTED: 3:59 pm EDT June 6, 2005

My idea about who should star as Runaway Bride Jennifer Wilbanks brought many interesting responses from readers of Celebrity Chatter.

Here are some of the gems:

Celebrity Chatter Michelle Solomon"Doris ('Everybody Loves Raymond') Roberts should play Wilbanks. This will show beautifully how you age when the press hounds you relentlessly," said Antoinette, of Hoover, Ala.

"Kristin ('Sex and the City') Davis should play Wilbanks," said Cindy from New Hampshire.

"I adore Julia Roberts, so I'm hoping she gets the role. She's a natural," said Aries. Alisa from Georgia agreed that Roberts would be the perfect fit.

"How about Jennifer Lopez?" said Natasha, of Sacramento, Calif. (Meanwhile, how about a congratulations to J.Lo? She and Marc Anthony celebrated their one-year anniversary Sunday.)

"Cameron Diaz…if she dyed her hair," said Brigette.

"How about Pam Dawber of 'Mork and Mindy.' She's probably be quite a bit cheaper to get," according to Teri, of North Carolina.

"I don't really have any for the Wilbanks role, but one thing I have been thinking for awhile is how perfect Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck would be as Rob and Laura from 'The Dick Van Dyke Show."' Tony, of Eastpointe, Mich., agreed with me that Garner should play the bride.

Debra chimed in with Ashley Judd, while Glynda said Sandra Bullock would be great. Erika, of Duluth, Ga., said Jennifer Love Hewitt could play Wilbanks. Jennifer of Morrisville, Pa., agreed that Hewitt is the best choice as did Nicole, of Sacramento. How about Alyssa Milano, of "Who's the Boss?" fame, said Angela of Splendora, Texas?

Renee, of Canton, Mich., said that "Margot Kidder (although maybe in her younger years from 'Superman' could play her. I think she already has that wide-eyed look down pretty well."

"Drew Barrymore, of course, she has had enough practice. Her running shoes are broken in," said Cindy.

Sarah from Florida nominated Nicky Hilton when "she's got her hair dyed as a brunette."

But Vicky, of Texas said there shouldn't even be a movie about Wilbanks. "Why encourage a psycho?" she said.

Molly's Reunion

The reunion of Molly Ringwald and the rest of the Brat Pack bunch at Sunday's MTV Awards may have inspired the star to start thinking of sequels.

Ringwald, Ally Sheedy and Anthony Michael Hall were honored at the awards 20 years after "The Breakfast Club" was released in theaters.

"I would love to see it get remade," Ringwald told MTV.

Meanwhile, Ringwald may be eyeing another sequel from her John Hughes movie days. The 37-year-old actress is reportedly in discussions to remake "Sixteen Candles," but "Thirty Seven Candles" just doesn't have the same ring to it.

Speaking of movies, Matt Damon may be changing his name to Marco as he gets ready to play the explorer Marco Polo.

Damon is in talks to star in the historical movie, which would be based on Polo's autobiography.

Madge Crazy

The Madonna blitz is under way. She's in New York Tuesday to promote her new children's book "Lotsa De Casha." She'll be at the Borders Columbus Circle.

If you're hoping to get a glimpse of the Material Girl, forget it if you don't have a ticket. The event is not open to the public. Borders said tickets were given away on a few New York radio stations.

Madonna (photo: Madonna.com)In case you're wondering, her appearance is set for 4 p.m. Tuesday. You can however catch a glimpse of her as the media blitz continues with appearances on "The Today Show," "The View," an upcoming edition of Ladies' Home Journal and Teen People.

Also on Tuesday, Madonna will host a party at Bergdorf Goodman's that benefits UNICEF.

If you've always wanted to smell like Madonna, she's reportedly been signed to a nearly $9 million deal to launch her own perfume that will be out this Christmas. It's scheduled to coincide with the release of Madonna's album "Defying Gravity."

It's no surprise Madonna is spending time away from her London home and in New York. Reportedly the first single from the new album is a song called "I Love New York."

Following in Madonna's footsteps and other celebrities who have turned to writing for wee ones is Mariah Carey. The singer is planning on releasing a series of illustrated books entitled "Automatic Princess."

The main character will be based on experiences from the singer's own childhood, growing up in a mixed-race family. There's no date yet for when the books will be released.
